FREQUENTLY  ASKED  PAINTING  QUESTIONS

5.  Why do you list Cadmium Yellow on one of your episodes, but not on your supply list?

Well, in one case, it was simply a mistake.  It should have been listed as Transparent Yellow--which Cadmium is not.  But, I am not hung up on specific colors, always.  Mixed with blue, you will, of course, still get a green with either.

I tend to use Transparent Yellow to mix with my blues to acquire my greens.  I generally want to maintain the transparent quality of my greens.  Though it likely varies with each  manufacturer, but I generally regard Cadmium as an opaque color (not transparent).  This is usually not the look that I am trying to achieve, but you may like the way that it lays over other colors.

On PBS, I try to stay brand neutral.  They like it that way.  So, depending on the maker, Transparent Yellow has different names.  But, basically, I am using a "primary" yellow that is "transparent".  The specific yellow that I am currently using is listed on my supply page.
