We introduced our kids to sailing 30-years ago. Now, as an old man, our son has returned to the sea — skippering a week long sail in the BVI with his family.
He seems smiley-er as a Caribbean Captain than he was in the days of being a Florida Keys Swabbie. Perhaps we worked him too hard or didn’t grant enough shore leave. Or, perhaps it’s merely as Jimmy Buffet suggested, “changes in latitudes (bring about) changes in attitudes.”
Regardless, wraparound shades, straw hat, tropical shirt, and master of the Caribe waters or not, he’s still a punk.
