\nAfter a 10-month hiatus, we have resumed our wraparound deck renewal project. With its 10ish-feet height off of the ground, significant water structural damage, and very difficult to remove old planking, this has turned out to be a bigger project than we had imagined. It will be well worth it in the end, but I won’t want to do this twice.<\/p>\n

Here I am removing the last old plank. Many of the plank screws were decayed and would strip out during the removal and many of the planks were screwed underneath the siding, making for slow, tough going.<\/p>\n

The new lumber\/new decking rebuilding phase will now be a relative pleasure.<\/p>\n

We are really fortifying this new deck and taking measures to prevent future water damage. It is our hope that archeologists will one day dig it out and stand in awe!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
