This explains a lot.
Today is the first day of fall. Sadly, John Prine didn’t make it to this past summer. But here is his elegy to autumnal equinox (aka, summer’s end).
I’ve lived here 18 years and I just realized Leigh Lake is only 70 miles away. Weather permitting, we hope to make it our post-boat-season, early October hike.
These stunning drone videos sold me.
This is what crazy people (not me) do in Montana.
This 4-minute video clip from 2011 might provide a clue.
WARNING: This video is a bit raunchy and is laden with “F-bombs.”
Nevertheless, it humorously makes some interesting (and possibly relevant) observations.
I have been thinking about the social phenomena of “groupthink,” lately. It seems particularly omnipresent in these current times.
It can be funny in some instances, like in the video above. But overall, it’s a very destruction human trait. Illogical decisions made en masse, where dissenters are subtly (and sometimes not so subtly) ridiculed, can lead to perilous outcomes. The doomed launch of the space shuttle Challenger is one small example.
Kramer learns below that it can be tough going against groupthink.
