Summer’s End
Today is the first day of fall. Here is the late great John Prine’s elegy to autumnal equinox (aka, summer’s end).
A Little Bit Country
I’m not a country western guy per se, but I do like Chris Stapleton and some good old George Strait from time to time.
Spacewalkers
By coincidence, I watched the 2017 (dubbed) Russian movie, The Spacewalker, on the same day as SpaceX’s first “private” spacewalk (or, at least, first “private” peeking outside).
Of course, we are all familiar with the 1965 Soviet “first space walk” being their high water mark in the space race with us. But that’s all I knew about it. I was shocked to learn of all the near death experiences these two brave Soviet cosmonaut-pioneers were subjected to. I suspected the movie was unrealistically dramatized until I did a little reading about the flight.
Turns out it was, in fact, a wild, wild ride for these guys!
The Spacewalker is currently showing on Amazon Prime. The Russian-to-English dubbing is a little painful, but it is well worth the watch.
Studio CRV
I recently discovered the Victoria, BC folk duo, Ocie Elliot. Apparently, they like the acoustics of their Honda CRV for creating new song-launch videos.
Sometimes I sing in our CRV too (though I shouldn’t be allowed to).
Sting & Orchestra
During his peak years, I was never a big Sting fan. However, this accidental find is making me amend my opinion — such an effective blend with the orchestra.
