We had a great run through early October, but “summer” abruptly came to an end October 10th.
Summers go so fast.
The Quiet Hour
It would be an exaggeration to call me a fisherman. True, I frequently go out on the water early in the morning. True, I do typically set a couple of lines.
But I go where I want the fish to be.
This separates me from a real fisherman.
I am seeking the “magic hour” (or two)—the quiet, the low light, the calm seas—long before the appearance of annoying wave-runners and grossly over-stereo-amplified, typically jackass-piloted wake-boats.
If I happen upon a lake trout, great! If I don’t… well, I don’t have to clean a fish.
Call it a win-win.

Reeling In The Big Ones
I know it is impolite to brag, but as you can see, we were reeling in the “big ones” on Flathead Lake this 4th of July Eve morning.
And I wasn’t even cheating by holding this fish close to the camera.
The Last Day Of Indian Summer
It looks like the last day of our Indian Summer. Cold, rain, then snow is on the schedule for tomorrow, into the weekend.
It has been a good run.
Flathead Lake’s Cedar Island Water Trail
This is a 17-minute bird’s-eye view of kayaking the (approximately) 1-mile around Flathead Lake’s Cedar Island.
We like to kayak in shallow, calm water where we can see the rock formations below us — particularly in Montana’s crystal, clear Flathead Lake. It is amazing what fascinating colors and rock formations our “follow me” drone revealed.
