The Tax Bird Returneth
Four days late, but the “tax bird” returneth!
I can’t count the times I have been pulling my hair out, doing “enjoyable” last-minute tax stuff, then looking up and seeing this osprey’s first seasonal appearance. This is one punctual raptor.
Other than the tax part, I take it as a good omen (though maybe not so much from a trout’s perspective).
The Big Fill
The lake level is unusually low for this date, even though the surrounding mountain snow-pack is above normal. Something tells me there is going to be a fast melt-off coming soon.

T-Minus 20 Days
Only twenty days away from launching on this ramp. Officially, I call May 1st the beginning of our fishing season. But, truth be told, it is the beginning of our “spending-magical-mornings-on-the-lake” season.
Early mornings out on Flathead Lake are often nothing short of breathtaking.
Reeling in trout just is an added benefit.
