I wasn’t too pleased that our neighbor to the north decided to “thin out” their trees. Since it is uninhabited acreage, it had (sort of) been our private forest.

But on the plus side, it provided us with a new view to the north, looking in the distance to Glacier National Park. And, last night, it gave as the catbird seat for looking down on the bay and the Lakeside fireworks show.

I am not much of a lawn and garden guy. Other than mowing the grass and pulling a few weeds, I pretty much take a laissez faire approach to yard care — a true benefit of living in the woods. But this time of year, nature makes even me look pretty good.

And, by the way, “laissez faire” is not French for “lazy.”
