They say that time flies when you’re having fun. It’s hard to believe it has been four decades since this beautiful woman (beautiful inside and out) agreed to marry me. I’m a lucky guy!

This past weekend we celebrated our 40th anniversary — and a grandchild’s birthday (photo above).

We met working together in a small town grocery store when I was 15-years young (I lied about my age to get the job). I worked my way up from carryout boy to the coveted produce department. The cute checkout girl would visit me during her breaks to get an apple.

Years later, we met again, passing each other by chance on a college campus sidewalk. That second encounter altered our lives forever.

Fate and apples.
