We were on Flathead Lake for 5 hours this morning and never encountered another boat. Amazing!
Having said that, I made sure I had two propulsion sources. A mechanical on this big lake could be problematic.

After a 4-year hiatus, we returned to our watercolor workshop program these past two weeks. It was good to be back in the saddle. What great groups of artists! Some new faces and many familiar. What a pleasure working with people who love the challenges and rewards of the watercolor medium.
And, this was our first annual home/studio workshop.

Maybe it was his Ontario upbringing or his mid-70s hit, The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald (probably both), but Gordon Lightfoot’s music always reminded me of Lake Superior and northern Minnesota. As young parents, we would often pack the kids and leave home at 3am to do a quick camping trip up Superior’s shore. His music was, more often than not, the backdrop of those mystic sun-rising-over-the-great-inland-sea mornings.
This singer/poet/songwriter was easily one of my favorite musicians.
RIP Gordon Lightfoot.
